For this book, I belong to the category where I watched the movie first and then read the book. "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" is my childhood favourite. I read the book only years later to realise what a wonderful childhood book I had missed to read. It took me on an exciting journey of fantasy. It is good read for children. If you haven't read this book, read it today! Recently, I re-watched Part-1 of the movie and here's the scenes that were missed in the movie and the new scenes that were added.

Scenes missed in the movie
1. Lucy's magical discovery

In the book, Lucy's first journey into Narnia through the wardrobe is a moment filled with awe and wonder. She meets Mr. Tumnus the faun and experiences the magic of Narnia for the first time. This was beautifully depicted in the movie. However, this scene was shorter and misses some of Lucy's discovery. For example, in the book, there are moments of dialogue and interaction between Lucy and Mr. Tumnus that reveal their personalities and the magic of Narnia in a more detailed manner. The movie focuses more on the visual spectacle of Narnia rather than the emotional and whimsical aspects of Lucy's discovery.
2. Cozy dinner with the beavers
The book describes a cozy dinner scene at the beavers' home, where the Pevensie siblings enjoy a warm meal and learn more about Narnia. In the book, the beavers' house is described in detail, with its warm fireplace and delicious meal of fish and potatoes. "What are you talking about? You can't be turning him over to the Witch," Mrs. Beaver exclaimed. This cozy moment of camaraderie and friendship was shortened in the movie, leaving out some of the heart-warming interactions between the characters.
3. Exploring the Witch's Castle
In the book, the Pevensie siblings explore the Witch's castle and encounter various magical creatures imprisoned there. This adds depth to their adventure and showcases more of Narnia's wonderful elements. However, this exploration was limited in the movie, focusing more on the battle scenes.
New scenes added
1. Epic Battle of Good vs. Evil
The movie expands on the epic battle between Aslan's forces and the White Witch's army. While the book describes the battle, the movie expanded it with impressive visual effects and thrilling action sequences. "If the Witch understood the true meaning of sacrifice, she might have interpreted the Deep Magic differently," Aslan's words echoed during the intense battle, adding depth to the conflict.
2. Edmund's Redemption Arc: The movie explores Edmund's character in detail, showing his struggles. His internal conflict and growth as a character are highlighted, adding depth to the story.
In conclusion, whether you read the book or watch the movie, "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" offers a magical adventure full of courage, love, friendship and excitement. I recommend experiencing both versions to fully appreciate the enchanting world of Narnia!
